Invoke

As a big fan of quicksilver, its probably a pretty big deal that today I have changed my ‘invoke quicksilver’ hotkey from F8 to a double tap of command (ie. the apple key).

As someone who uses quicksilver constantly I’ve noticed recently that streching all the way from the usual resting position on my powerbook to hit F8 every few minutes was not the best use of those valuable nanoseconds.

The latest Macbreak Tech podcast skirted around a few quicksilver basics, and mentioned the possibility of invoking with a simple double tap of command. and lo! - looks like the option was there all along but I’d completely missed it.

FF

One from the archives here. A (badly) scanned Velvia 100F slide taken in the spring (duh) this year in Manchester - I think in that little housing area between the museum of science and industry and Deansgate. ’shopped a little bit to bring out the colour and match up with the slide. I quite like it - a nice change from the season at the moment, what with everything dying etc.

Bombastic

Francis

“My neighbor is from Luxembourg, he is the world bench press champion - 57 years old. Francis was a policeman. I dont think a lot of policeman but he’s ok - he rides a motorbike.”

(Overheard on the train…)

Mornington

Methinks the best coffee in town is definitely an Espresso Macchiato from CafĂ© Nero. I prefer it to a regular Espresso and it beats the shit out of anything from Starbucks. Takes the edge off of missing the train somewhat, although I really do need to get my Powerbook’s battery replaced to make the most of it. Battery life is getting down to a rather pathetic twenty minutes!!

Tidy

Had a bit of a spring clean (or rather an early Autumn clean - summer is deffers over after todays weather) on this little thing. Fixed some of the little quirks, all with the help of the fabulous Textmate and Cyberduck. Works a charm i reckon. Funny what I’ll fancy staying up until 2am for in the name of ‘relaxing’… got to get up in 4 hours or something…

Lucky

Aah, sweet Potato Wharf. Love / Hate eh. Well, this photo - taken for Heather’s ‘are you feeling lucky’ project over at flickr has been sat on my machine for a while now waiting for me to have the time to throw it up there: i’ve been spending most of my time in the real world steadily losing hope that we’re going to be able to make something happen but there you go. a comedy of impending disasters and deadlines, loomed and then missed. a development with soul in a city with attitude. still hope yet.
